Pokemon Vortex, previously known as Pokemon Crater and usually subtitled Battle Arena, is an online game played using mouse. Aaron is the man behind the creation of this site, which received a lot of updates throughout years; it reached version 7 before getting closed at the end of the year 2007. The site got recreated again in 2009 bringing more out of Pokemon Vortex game.
The basic game feature was inspired by core series, specifically the turn based battle system. Players, who registered, were eligible to use interactive maps on the site to locate and capture new species of Pokemon and those are brought by Pokemon Vortex.
The major update that took place was for the fourth version in August, 2004. A map was added as new feature, which can be used to walk around and battle with other members nearby, even though for a while the actual opponents are still under control by computers. The aim of latest version is to beat a team of maximum six Pokemon.
For Pokemon Vortex in store, 1 billion Pokemon are remakes of celebi, Darkrai and Mewtwo. Details in Celebi are more and are known as Eternal Celebi. Darkrai, known as Darkrown, has spiker collar. The Mewtwo comes just with armor.
Shiny Scuther was novelty on site, as it was the favorite Pokemon for Aaron. Before fourth version, both Shiny and Dratinice could only be found in maps at a particular time of the day. After a while, Dratinice could be located only in wild, but it’s very rare occurrence. Similarly, Shiny Scyther, which was found in same way like other Shiny Pokemon, was also rare.
Over time, four special classes of Pokémon were added: Dark Pokémon, Metallic Pokémon, Ghostly Pokémon and Shiny Pokémon. Along with new color schemes, each class came with their own unique attributes:
Over time, there were few more additions of Pokemon Vortex:
Dark Pokemon: These were stronger with more attacking power.
Metallic Pokemon: They are more immune to status conditions.
Ghostly Pokemon: These can make an opponent feel nervous and pull away, after having an attack.
Shiny Pokemon: These have more HP.
The site had bus forums running on. As these were the places to discuss and get all the help with regard to the game, Pokemon Vortex was the main talk for video games, art, and more general topics. Moderators, who used to work usually with less communication with Aaron, had fought in this regard with spam, and were ready to ban those people who did not follow the rules listed in. During the upgrade of fourth version, these forums got removed. In the anti-spam time of these original forums, those people who post were being observed and recruited to private club, called Valthors by the creators, Vandurer. Out of four forum moderators, three were added as members. But as the recruitment closed, the activity in club got dropped drastically and remained inactive until it dissolved officially in June 2007. We will be bringing more exciting information about Pokemon Vortex, stay tuned.
